Still Alice Book Review

Still Alice is the gripping novel about the reality of Alzheimer’s written by Lisa Genova. You may have heard of it as Julianne Moore just won the Academy Award for best actress for her portrayal as Alice Howland in the movie adaptation of the book. Our very own Nicole Nellis-Cockrell just read Still Alice in her personal book club and she wanted to share her thoughts on this novel with the summary of her Still Alice book review:

Still Alice is about a topic I was not familiar with; early onset Alzheimer’s disease. The book followed a linguistics professor at Harvard and this terrible disease she was diagnosed with. The insight Lisa Genova gives you is wonderful and you truly feel like you are walking alongside Alice as she learns to live a new normal life. I am so glad that I am part of a book club that opens up my mind to several important topics. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did!

As the saying goes, “The book is always better than the movie”, but if you want to check out Julianne Moore in her Academy Award performance, head over to the Mosaic Shopping District in Fairfax and the artsy Angelika Theater.
