WAGSHAL’S AT BONFIELD’S

A new deli and grocer concept store coming to the site of a former Texaco service center in Bethesda.

Who could have foreseen this?? The high-end grocer, Wagshal’s operates a chain of premier delicatessens and gourmet markets in the DC area announced back in September of 2019 that it would be taking over the space formerly known as Bonfield’s Garage. The Bonfield service center was first opened in 1936 and is on the register of historic places for being the oldest operating (at the time) service station in Montgomery county. Soon, Bonfield’s will be making its 21st century debut as a grocery store and deli. At this time we aren’t sure exactly if/how “Bonefield Market” will differ, if at all, from Wagshal’s other locations in the area, but the residents of Bethesda are very excited for the addition (WaPo.) This news is also reason for residents in parts of NW DC to rejoice as well. The Bonifield Market is located off of MacArthur Blvd very close to the DC line. For members of the Palisades, Berkley, Potomac Heights, and Foxhall communities this a great option very close to home. Stay tuned to Wagshal’s for more information regarding the stunning transformation of this Bethesda landmark here!
