Art on the Avenue took place this past weekend in the gorgeous neighborhood of Del Ray in Alexandria, Virginia on Mt. Vernon Avenue. This annual tradition has stolen the hearts of locals over the last 26 years, and with more than 300 talented artists in attendance, it’s easy to understand why.
While strolling Mt. Vernon Avenue, you can expect to find jewelers, silversmiths, woodworkers, pottery makers, soap crafters, glass makers, unique painters, sculptors, fabric artists, and more! There are also some local musicians in attendance, playing genres like Irish, folk, rock-n-roll, and country, offering a balanced soundtrack to accompany you on your quest for local art.
Each year, Art on the Avenue makes certain to provide a family environment with lots of opportunities for children to explore their creativity as well. With featured traditions like stuffing your own scarecrow, painting pumpkins, and creating lotus flower designs, your children are sure to feel their creative juices flowing.
However, Art on the Avenue doesn’t end with art and music. With all the excitement from local bands, talented artists, and hands-on activities, you’re certain to work up quite the appetite.
